Sarah dropped her hair elastic in the toilet and I made her fish it out with her hands. It's a good thing I made her salvage it, because I'm using it as we speak to hold my hair back!

We had a earfquake!!

When I was a young gal, there was a little earthquake in Salt Lake City. It scared Angie to death, for she thought the devil was shaking her bed. Unfortunately, I didn't wake up. I slept through the whole thing. I felt gyped! Well, that's ok, because last night, just as I was falling asleep, I heard a low rumble and felt the house shake. I thought maybe a truck hit the house, but then I thought, "maybe I finally get to feel a real earthquake!" This morning in the paper, I saw that there was indeed and earthquake about 12 miles north of here. It was almost a 4! Sweet! I'm glad nothing broke.

Kate's #5
So, this past weekend was full of fun and celebration. It was one non-stop partay!! With Neal passing the bar, and then his birthday Sunday and Kate's on Monday, we had a lot going.
Friday, after we got the "stay of execution" news, Neal and I headed out for a date. We went to dinner and the temple. We figured that the temple was a good place to go if Neal didn't pass his exam, or even if he did. It works for days of gratitude, or mourning, so it was a safe plan for "date-night Friday." Then, Saturday, I had a 10K to run for the Mt. Angel Oktoberfest. We got there and decided to eat at the boy-scouts pancake breakfast. I had already had my energy bar at home, so I didn't need to eat, but it smelled so good!! Well, needless to say, sausage isn't the best thing to eat before a race. So, when I hit the split off for the 5 and 10K runners, guess which fork I took? You guessed it! Robert Frost, you're full of it!! I ended up doing the 5K. Even that felt like torture. It was really pretty though.
After the race, we went and watched some weiner dog races and let the kids play in the kindergarten area, then had lunch!! So much for the morning workout. I had a reuben (one of my faves) and some delicious schnitzel. MMMMMMMM. Ser gut!!
Anyway, Sunday was Neal's B-Day and Monday was Kate's. Poor Neal. He only got some pants and socks for work, so I felt sorry for him and broke down and got him a new video game. He deserved it. Kate, on the other hand, got lots of fun stuff. A few weeks ago, after playing with one of her boy friends, she said, "Mom. You need to buy me a little brother so I can play with his legos." Well, that's all Neal had to hear. He's been hoping one of his children would ask for legos. So, guess what Kate got? Lots of legos. Neal called me while he was at work yesterday and said, "Don't open the legos. I want to help Kate when I get home." So, Neal "helped" her. Well, she watched him put her legos together. Nice.
So, the wonderful weekend is over, and it's back to laundry and planning mutual for Wednesday and a fireside for Sunday. I'd rather be eating weinerschitzel.

Please bring the mallows!

Good news: Neal passed the bar exam! It's finally over!! Does anyone want to come over for a good old fashioned book burning party? I hear that constitutional law books and bar review materials burn really well. We'll have smores! Bring the kids!
I can't even tell you how happy we are. This ranks up there with temple marriage and baby birthin'! In the words of Laurel - "Bow-chicka-wow-wow!!"
So remember - if you've been injured in an accident, just call! One call! That's all! Oh, I'd better go now. I just heard the ambulance drive by. I need to get a faster car. Those ambulances are pretty hard to chase down.

Sarah and Kate with the horses
Neal's grandpa and step grandma just bought 23 acres in Vaneta, Oregon. It's just west of Eugene, so it's an hour away from our house (and it's where Brooke Wilburger was from). Anyway, we went to visit a few weeks ago, and the girls had a blast with their horses, sheep and 4 wheelers. Here are some pictures.

My scary trainer

Well, I finally joined a gym. When you sign up at 24 hour fitness, you get some consultations with a personal trainer. Well, my trainer, Pat, scares me. She's a roid-raging, iron pumping, Ms. Universe (not the beauty pageant, but the body builders), caffeine induced wide-eyed, hard blinking, old porsche driving kind of woman. Ok, so I go in for my fat-pincher test and measurements. Well, she basicly told me I was a skinny fat person. She also said my tri-ceps had so much fat on them, that when I wave, I have a waddle! OK, maybe I'm not totally toned, but heck, I just ran a marathon in June and I work out 6 days a week! I'm no fatso! I just don't want to look like she does, or shave a mustasche, or grow testicles! Neal told me to change trainers. But I'm a wuss and don't want to hurt her feelings. She might pile-drive me.
Darth Kate and the tale of the swimming cap
So, my girls did swimming lessons this summer. They had a blast. But, as I watched them from the side-lines, I noticed that their hair was really getting in the way of learning. So, I did what any mother would do, and went to G.I. Joes to buy them swimming caps. Along with the swimming caps came vivid memories of Laurel and Lindsey taking "private" swim lessons at Cyprus with Lanae's maybe-lesbian sister. Ahh, all the nasty things I said about your dorky swim caps. Memories . . . . .
Well, when we returned from the sporting goods store, Kate insisted on inserting her head into her cap all on her own. Deffinately Kate style. Well, here are the results. . . .
Sarah's new P.E. teacher
Sarah's first day of 4th grade was yesterday! Her teacher is Mrs. Freeborn, and Sarah says that she is "totally nice." That's good. So, I asked Sarah how her day was, and if she had music or P.E. or library. She mentioned P.E. Last year, one of the 2 female P.E. teachers retired - Mrs. Risitto (I'm assuming she was married to a man, although she DID look like a typical he/she phys ed teacher). Anyway, Sarah told me that the new teacher was a man, and now I will quote what Sarah said to describe him: "He looks kind of like a teenager, but I know he's not because he wears a teacher badge. And, he's really muscly, like you can see through his shirt, like the details that some men have, you know, like you can see the line between their boobs and all the bumps on their stomach. He was really strong." After that description, I think I need to schedule a little consultation with the new teacher - you know, to see how Sarah's doing and to see if he needs any special help with his class. And, get this, his name is Beau. Isn't that fitting? Heck, I remember elementary school phys ed. I learned a lot from old "my-shorts-are-really-short-and-tight-and-polyester" Mr. Burnside. Who can forget old Mr. Red Beard? I also like sports, so maybe I can be his new assistant. Sweet! I've been meaning to do a little more volunteer work at the school.
I'm here!!
So, I finally have a blog spot for meine familia. It will probably bore you to death, but it will make me feel good to be out in the world of blogs. Oh, and I promise - no dirty pictures. It will be PG rated.
